Keep Calm and Love Mother Nature

ArborDaySustainability.

Through the expression of one word, many environmental preservation efforts around the globe strive for a better tomorrow through purification and protection of our world today. UCF’s forefront programs in promoting “go green” initiatives encompass not only recycling and reducing fuel emissions, but also put great emphasis on everyone’s most cherished greenery: Trees!

These unsung heroes deserve much more credit than typically given, and through the UCF Arboretum, April 18th’s Arbor Day Celebration will devote this day to pampering, planting, and parenting UCF’s main campus greenery. From 10:0a to 2:0pm, volunteers have the opportunity to plant trees, propagate plants, maintain campus trails, and garden with fellow environmental advocates.

If unable to attend the Arbor Day event, volunteers are more than welcome to donate their time Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:0a to 10:0am, and Fridays, 10:0a to 12:0pm, through April 22nd. This enriching opportunity enables volunteers to truly appreciate and understand the dedication in preserving our environment, as well as reap the reward of self-fulfillment in giving back to Mother Nature.

With Earth Day soon after Arbor Day, on Tuesday April 22nd, volunteers will not only give back to nature, but become one with it through relaxing nature walks and outdoor yoga, as well! This cost-free opportunity welcomes the community regardless of Yoga level, and asks only that you bring a yoga mat and reusable water bottle if available. Yoga is well known for its revitalizing and re-energizing attributes, which are vital in ideal preparation of upcoming exams!

To participate in Outdoor Yoga and a Nature Walk at the UCF Arboretum from 10:0a to 12:0pm April 22nd, please RSVP by April 20th to JeanJacques.Werleigh@ucf.edu.

In conjunction with UCF Arboretum’s hosted Earth Day event, Central Florida’s 9th annual Earth Day event will take place Saturday, April 19th from 10:0a to 6:0pm at Lake Eola Park, 195 N. Rosalind Avenue, Orlando, FL 32801. This fun-filled day features environmental and humane education, Earth kids zones, food preparation demonstrations, artist activities, and live music!
