Learn What to Do in an Emergency: KnightSHARE Expo 2014
The College of Sciences, and UCF as a whole, is committed to educating students and faculty on how to handle any emergency situation, from an active shooter on campus to a student who needs CPR. We encourage all of our students to participate in the KNIGHTSHARE Expo, to become familiar with emergency personal and their equipment. Preparation and prevention are always the best solutions to any possible emergency situation.
Join us from March 17 – 21 for the second annual KNIGHTSHARE Expo, hosted by the Office of Emergency Management, University Police Department, Environmental Health and Safety, and Victim Services! The Expo is a week-long campaign to help our UCF community prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies. Join us for workshops and courses, public outreach events, trainings, demonstrations, and more.
Local, state, and federal emergency responders will show off the vehicles and equipment they use to help keep you safe during a showcase at Memory Mall, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office will kick off the day by landing a helicopter on Memory Mall near the CFE Arena at 10:15 a.m.

Monday, March 17
* 8 to 10 a.m. – SAFE women’s self-defense class
* 8 a.m. to Noon – CPR certification ($15 fee to be paid at class)
* 1 to 2 p.m. – Shots Fired class about UCF Alert and what to do during an active shooter situation
Tuesday, March 18
* 8 to 11 a.m. – First Aid certification ($15 fee to be paid at class)
* 9 to Noon – FEMA’s IS 100 – Incident Command System
* 1 to 2 p.m. – How to help a student in crisis (faculty and staff only)
* 1 to 5 p.m. – FEMA’s IS 200 – provides training and resources for supervisory personnel in ICS
Wednesday, March 19
* 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. KNIGHTSHARE Expo Showcase, outside of the Student Union and on Memory Mall. Meet with UCF, local, state, and federal agencies and check out some of the unique equipment used during emergencies
* 10:15 – Seminole County Sheriff’s office will land the “ALERT” helicopter at Memory Mall near the CFE Arena!
Thursday, March 20
* 8 to Noon – FEMA’s IS 700 – National Incident Management System
* 9 to 10 a.m. – Fire safety and extinguisher training
* 1 to Noon – FEMA’s IS 800 – National Response Framework
* 2 to 3 p.m. – Question, persuade, refer (suicide awareness and prevention)
Friday, March 21
* 10 a.m. – Noon – Basic Storm Spotter workshop (lead by a representative of the National Weather Service in Melbourne), Emergency Operations Center
* 1 to 3 p.m. – Advanced Storm Spotter Workshop (the basic course is a pre-requisite)
