Ten years is not a long time compared to the 52 years as the University of Central Florida. However, in the past ten years the College of Sciences has grown significantly in enrollment, undergraduate and graduate programs, majors, partnerships and overall opportunities for students, alumni, and faculty.

Today, the UCF College of Sciences is the largest college on campus with more than 11,000 students. The college is very diverse, with nine departments and one school spanning the natural and physical sciences. College of Sciences students study everything from Anthropology, to Communication, to Physics, and all in between.

This October marks ten years since the UCF College of Arts and Sciences was divided into the College of Arts and Humanities and the College of Sciences in 2005. In honor of its anniversary, the UCF College of Sciences is celebrating with an online social media campaign and a celebratory event toward the end of the month with faculty and staff that have impacted the college over the past 10 years.

The #COSTurns10 social media campaign encourages online engagement utilizing the hashtag #COSTurns10. The college is encouraging its departments, students, alumni, faculty and friends to join the celebration and post memories and highlights of their UCF experience with the hashtag.

The goal of the #COSTurns10 social media celebration is to build unity among the college’s students, alumni, and faculty; connecting the departments under the umbrella of the College of Sciences. Together, the College of Sciences has so much to offer through its diverse majors, innovative research, and distinguished faculty.

Two weeks into the celebration the College of Sciences has already seen a lot of participation among the departments on social media. The college’s marketing and communications team hopes to continue to bring students, alumni, and faculty together as one college and celebrate its unity and diversity.

On October 30, the UCF College of Sciences will be hosting an on-campus event, bringing together its faculty and staff to celebrate the accomplishments and unity of the college.

The College of Sciences looks forward to continued growth not only in the UCF community, but globally through its state-of-the-art and impacting research and outreach.
