UCF College of Sciences Honors 2015-16 Scholarship Donors and Recipients

2015-16 COS Scholarship LuncheonOn September 25, the UCF College of Sciences held its third annual Scholarship Luncheon to celebrate its supportive donors and accomplished student scholarship recipients for the 2015-16 academic year. This year the college celebrated awarding 46 scholarships, totaling $94,050 in scholarship aid.

The event provided a unique opportunity for scholarship recipients to have lunch with the donors who provide their financial support. Donors, recipients, and college faculty and staff chatted about future endeavors and pursuits as they enjoyed a meal in the Cape Florida Ballroom in the UCF Student Union. Dr. Michael Johnson, dean of the UCF College of Sciences, and other college representatives at the event thanked the donors for their generous support.

College of Sciences Associate Dean and Chair of the Scholarship Committee, Dr. Arlen Chase, honored each scholarship donor and awardee by name as they proceeded to the front of the room to take a photo together and with Dr. Michael Johnson.

“Each year, more of our students need scholarship support. Scholarships reduce the financial pressure so academic pursuits can take priority. Every one of our scholarships was established out of a true generosity of spirit. I am grateful for each person who makes an investment in our students,” said Dr. Michael Johnson.

Johnson also thanked the event sponsor, the Public Relations Society of America Orlando Chapter for not only providing a scholarship every year to communication students, but also for its contribution in support of this year’s luncheon.

The following appreciation video played at the end of the luncheon to further express the awardee’s gratitude to the donors and the college.

The 2015-16 UCF College of Sciences scholarship recipients are a diverse group of gifted students with talents spanning the natural, computational, social, and behavioral sciences. Many students said that their academic pursuits would not be possible without the generous support of the scholarship donors. The donors continue to leave their mark at UCF by funding some of UCF’s most accomplished students and future innovators.
